Greg Rusk
(Owner)
Greg Rusk, founder and owner of Black Diamond Solutions, has been here since the beginning, constantly overseeing the company's growth and direction. His favourite type of floor is polished concrete with artistic design work; you won't find anywhere else in Winnipeg that combines craftsmanship, vibrant colors, and a personalized touch that clients love. One memorable moment in the company's history, he recalls, was when, while designing a polished concrete pattern, a concrete tint pump exploded, turning that chaos into a flawless finish became a lesson in quick and calm problem-solving. Outside of work, his priorities are simple: family, work, and motorcycles, and his long-term plan is equally clear: retire and continue exploring on two wheels, with Israel as his next destination.

Raul Perez
(CEO and Sales Leader)
Jesús Raúl Pérez García, CEO and Sales Leader at Black Diamond, with six years on the team, leading the company while remaining focused on the work that defines us. He is the kind of leader who gets involved in every installation and, if needed, is ready to help onsite, then returning to the administrative side that keeps projects running smoothly. Before Black Diamond, he studied and worked in the hospitality industry, bringing a refined, service-oriented mindset to every client interaction. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, where they share a passion for soccer. One of his personal goals is to get back into fitness to complete a marathon. Professionally, learning something new on every project. His favourite project was when he collaborated with Spartan Developments to create a high-impact metallic epoxy floor. His memorable moment? After an overnight shift with his business partner, Ryan, they laughed at something hilarious. We remember the joke, only that it was legendary.
Ryan Loewen
(Roofing Division Manager)
Ryan Loewen is a key leader within Black Diamond, bringing four years of dedication, consistency, and a strong work ethic to the Roofing Division. As the Roofing Division Manager, he plays a crucial role in supporting both Black Diamond and Imperium Builders, combining hands-on experience with a calm, reliable leadership style that people naturally trust. Ryan’s professional journey has taken him through construction, restaurant work, and retail experiences that have shaped his discipline, adaptability, and ability to stay grounded in any situation. Outside of work, he enjoys football and soccer, a reminder of the teamwork and strategic thinking that also define his approach on the job. Some of his best memories come from the simple moments like the night in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, when the whole team stayed up talking, laughing, and enjoying the kind of camaraderie that only real work families build. His favourite flooring system is the flake system; thanks to the fast and dramatic transformation it delivers and the creativity that comes with customization. Focused, steady, and driven by long-term vision, Ryan aims to build a highly respected company one day. With the reputation he is already earning, it is clear he is on the right path.
Alvaro Ramirez
(Project Coordinator)
Alvaro Ramirez-Project Coordinator with 4 years and 7 months at Black Diamond, who keeps crews, materials, and quality perfectly in sync from job-site setup to the final shine. He supervises staff and inventory, communicates material needs and coordinates purchases, trains new hires on safety and procedures, verifies finishes against specs, delivers steady progress updates, and helps lead project reviews so every floor lands exactly as planned. An International Trade Engineer by training, Alvaro’s career has spanned procurement leadership, logistics and warehouse management. Off the clock, he is a family fisherman who swears by patience, perseverance, focus, and attention to detail. His favourite installs? Full-aggregate polished concrete (because it reveals the stone and story inside the slab) and epoxy flake floors for their durable, modern look. Guiding motto: “Opportunities are not waited for; they are created.” And when a day gets tough, a little self-humour always helps lighten the mood and keep things positive.
Cesar Huertas
(Project Supervisor and Equipment Operator)
Cesar Huertas PalmieriProject Supervisor and Equipment Operator with nearly three years at Black Diamond, who runs the full grind-to-shine workflow. He operates industrial grinding, polishing, and coating equipment for concrete and epoxy floors. Leads and coordinates crews to hit deadlines and quality targets. Trains new hires on equipment, safety, and company procedures, verifies finishes against client specs, and keeps every job site safe and organized. Previously a Key Account Executive in Fire Protection & Safety Engineering/Marketing, he brings a client-focused, detail-driven mindset to the field. Off the clock, Cesar is a family-first dad who stays active with soccer and cycling and values time with friends. Favourite install? Epoxy with flake finishes-durable, clean, and always satisfying. Looking ahead, he is focused on growing his responsibilities here, learning new skills across the company, and also in the long term, he would like to develop his own business.
Freddy Silva
(Concrete Polisher)
Freddy Alejandro Silva Bruna is an Equipment Operator (Concrete Polisher) at Black Diamond, on the team since May 11, 2024. He handles the full prep-to-finish mechanical surface prep, glue, rust removal, repair and patching of damaged or uneven areas, restoration, sealers and hardeners, and installing epoxy membranes with a soft spot for epoxy flake systems in garages because they look sharp and wear tough. A former TransportPower Engineer, Freddy brings methodical problem-solving to messy job-site realities. Off the clock, you will find him playing soccer, playing sports, cycling, and exploring the outdoors, and he never says no to a team BBQ; he really enjoys it. His current goals are simple and solid: keep improving his English communication and stay strong and healthy.
Alexis Contreras
(Concrete polisher)
Alexis Contreras-Black Diamond concrete polisher since September 8, 2024-who handles the full flow, repairing, restoring, and polishing concrete floors, applying sealants and hardeners, and running the industrial equipment that makes it all look effortless. In Chile, he performed as Director of Operations & Projects in telecommunications, where he thinks in systems, executes with care, and solves problems. Off-site, he loves to explore nature with his family, go mountain hiking, and keep learning with a relentlessly positive outlook. His goals are, stay healthy and improve his English so he would like to be able to hold a conversation without the translator. Favourite install? Epoxy flake floors-endless colour combos that match each client’s personality and deliver happy handovers. Most memorable moment was cheering a coworker’s long-awaited art debut (and farewell) with the whole Black Diamond crew, reminding us that craft and community go hand in hand here.
Karen Mendoza
(Bookkeeper)
Karen Mendoza Vasquez keeps Black Diamond’s numbers tidy and our projects moving. Starting in a Summer Co-op and rising to a full-time Bookkeeper and Financial Administrator, she is the operational heartbeat of our finance team, maintaining crystal-clear records, smoothing every transaction, and supporting payroll and management reporting so decisions land on solid ground. Before joining us, she coordinated general management at ENEA Business Park in Santiago, Chile. She describes her life as a blend of creativity and structure. She likes exploring new restaurants for inspiration, tackling DIY projects, and tending a thriving collection of plants. Her big goal on the horizon? Becoming trilingual.
Margarita Veliz Arenas
(Digital Marketing and commercial coordinator)
Margarita joined Black Diamond in August 2025, supporting the company’s digital presence with dedication and creativity. She manages our social media content, maintains brand consistency across platforms, and helps update the company website with new services and completed projects. With a background as an Administrative Assistant, she brings strong organizational and communication skills to the team. Outside of work, Margarita enjoys spending time with her family-hiking, exploring new places, playing sports, or relaxing with a movie. She also loves baking and learning new recipes. Her main personal and professional goal is to improve her English fluency to communicate with greater confidence.
